Born of Canadian parents in New Jersey, Clive Beal then finished high school at Oak Bay High School. Attending Camosun College, Clive studied the arts, then machine technology. In Winnipeg, Clive was employed for several years, until health problems superseded his efforts. On returning to Victoria, he took a pension, and continued work, part time, repairing photocopiers.

How art has changed his life:

In 2005, Clive became a founding member of the Pandora Arts Collective. This group provides for him a place in community where art is paramount. Clive is the director of the little fernwood gallery, also in the Fernwood Community Association building. These experiences have fostered good health, a rewarding sense of purpose, and creative expression.

Clive works in oil, and his best works are his landscapes. He sometimes derives from dreams and allegory: images with a compelling meaning. He also has a book of poetry and image: Quest of the Water Time. And, has produced a dozen CD's of his original music. Creativity is a way to deepen our experiences, whether as an artist, or as a patron.
